Management and staff at Wirksworth-based Harrington Generators International recently celebrated a considerable achievement, when no less than 58 of their workforce successfully completed forward-looking Business Improvement Training. The training was instigated by management after extensive consultation with another Derbyshire-based company, Qualitrain Ltd. Mr Richard Bates, MD of Qualitrain commented, “In taking this approach, the business will be better able to deal with the general economic downturn and poised to emerge from the recession with a valuable competitive edge.”
Harrington Generators already manufactures a huge range of petrol, gas and diesel generators, which provide mobile electrical power for defence, rail, telecoms and construction industries. Indeed, generators made at Harrington’s are at this moment providing vital electricity all over the world, day and night.
Harrington Generators don’t just manufacture – the team of engineers we have, means that our customers can benefit from a comprehensive service support network, which enables rapid on-site service response. We also carry an extensive range of spares.
After extensive consultation, the training package was developed and combined a thorough review and overhaul of the business’s manufacturing operations, with training which would lead to NVQ Level 2 accreditation in Business Improvement Techniques.
“This has been one of the most successful programmes of business improvement I have ever been involved with,” said Richard Bates, “largely because Harrington’s showed such tremendous long term commitment to a project which began in January 2009. Absolutely right through the company, from the MD to the latest recruits, Harrington staff have ‘bought into’ the drive to eradicate inefficiency and waste from every area of the business and we would like to thank the entire team at Harrington Generators and our training funding partners, West Nottinghamshire College, for their fantastic co-operation in making this exercise such a success.”
